Science is my passion, writing is my art.
Accurate, concise, and experienced – Carol is an accomplished medical writer and scientific director. Throughout her 14-year career in scientific communications, Carol has supported a variety of pharmaceutical products at various stages of the clinical development process– from nonclinical experimentation through regulatory approval and lifecycle management. Her strategic thinking, attention to detail and scope, familiarity with compliance guidelines, and ability to translate high-science into audience-appropriate deliverables result in high quality work.
Carol has extensive experience in immune-mediated inflammatory diseases (rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, GvHD, Crohn’s disease), oncology (supportive care in metastatic bone disease from prostate cancer, breast cancer, lung cancer, and other solid tumors; targeted therapies for renal cell carcinoma), multiple sclerosis, dermatology, virology, antimicrobial resistance, and vaccines. Her proven ability to quickly get up to speed in multiple therapeutic areas is an asset to the clients she supports.
Carol served as a postdoctoral fellow in the Cell Biology Department at the Oncology Research Institute of the Greenville Hospital System in Greenville, South Carolina, where she studied cancer immunotherapy. She earned her BA in microbiology from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and her PhD in molecular virology from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, where she studied the innate immune response to viral infection.
The name Thinking Cap was inspired by gifts that her parents gave her as a child – the encouragement to think critically, and a silly but effective cap to go along with it!
In her free time, Carol enjoys hiking in the beautiful Emerald Necklace Metroparks that surround Cleveland, Ohio with her border collie Cooper and husband Michael. As a sports fan and native Clevelander, Carol enjoys cheering on the Cleveland Indians and Cavaliers, and will always keep her fingers crossed for the Browns!
